A GUN-wielding man made grunting sounds and tried to rob a Chinese takeaway.
North Worcestershire police are appealing for information following the attempted robbery in Kidderminster.
At 11.50pm on Saturday, December 3, a man walked into Lai's Garden takeaway in George Street wearing a balaclava and carrying what is believed to be a gun.
When the woman behind the counter asked him what he wanted, he pointed the gun at the till and made some grunting sounds.
The woman called to the staff in the kitchen to call the police and the man ran out of the shop, empty-handed. He turned left and headed off towards the underpass.
He is described as white, 25-30 years old, 5ft 10ins tall with a slim build. He was wearing a black woollen balacalava and a dark-coloured jumper. The suspect was carrying what is described as a black gun, 18ins long and with a white tip.
DC Phillipa Charlesworth from Kidderminster CID said: "Thankfully this type of incident is rare in this area but no one was injured and nothing was stolen.
"However, our enquiries are continuing, and we're appealing to anyone with information to call us.
"We believe the offender may be a local man and we're appealing to anyone who can help us identify him to get in touch at the earliest opportunity. We are also keen to hear from anyone who saw a man fitting this description in the area or saw him run off afterwards."
Anyone with information about the attempted raid can call Kidderminster police on 08457 444888. or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
