LAST Sunday morning was the first Sunday in Advent and at the service at St Peter's Church the first Advent candle was lit by Mrs Mollie Gwilliam. The service was conducted by The Rev. Brian Williamson, readings were by Julia Davies and Meg Allsopp and prayers led by Thea Wild.
Rehearsals are well under way for the village Christmas concert being held at Powick Parish Hall on Saturday, December 17, at 7.30pm.
A quiz evening takes place at the Three Nuns, Colletts Green on Tuesday (December 6) starting at 8pm. Teams of four are required and entry is free. Plenty of prizes to be won.
The first walk in December by Powick Parish Ramblers takes place on Monday, December 12, meeting at the slip road by Knightwick surgery at 10am. (This is off the A44). The four and a half mile walk is around the Teme Valley and includes one steep hill and no doubt a refreshment stop at the Talbot Inn! The walk is led by Phil and Joy Bunyan (01886) 832774.
Powick Parish Magazine is in need of a new editor for 2006. The present editor Jim Bullett is retiring after seven years in the job. The monthly magazine has a wide circulation in the parish.
