THE second round of the Malvern United Angling Association's winter league took place on the pool at Mathon on Sunday and saw another good turnout, despite the frosty conditions.
Drawn on island peg number one Neil Humpage took the honours. Neil began the match fishing for roach and skimmers on the pole but failed to tempt any. A switch to a small groundbait feeder cast to the island proved successful as he landed two carp and lost one for a winning weight of 6-15-0.
Mike Spragg drew peg 23 on the other side of the island and also managed a carp late on in the contest, on straight lead and corn, to finish in second spot with 3-5-0.
Third place went to Chris Loveridge on peg nine, who employed waggler tactics to attract a few roach and skimmers in his 1-9-0 net.
The next match in the series is on Sunday (December 4) on the Avon at Birlingham draw 9am fish 9.30-1.30pm.
This is followed next Sunday (December 11) by the annual fur and feather contest held on the Severn at Holdfast.
