MALVERN girl Petra Mijic has had a successful weekend in the Central Networks Worcestershire Schools Badminton Association's U15s championships.
Petra, aged 14, a pupil at The Chase, teamed-up with Tahlia Balfe of Rubery to take the runners-up spot in the girls' doubles event. They were beaten in a very exciting final by Abigail Fullerton of Bromsgrove and Simone Priest of Hagley.
The boys' event was won by James Lancaster and Patrick Baldwin of Worcester who beat Richard Adlington and Jack Ford in a three-set final.
There was a large entry for the championships which were held at Droitwich High School.
Tournament organiser Margaret Hope said: "The standard of play was very high and there were some very close matches."
