MALVERN sailor Vivien Brookes has reached the final five of a competition to find an unsung champion of Midlands sport.
Ms Brookes is in the running for the BBC Midlands Sport Unsung Hero Award aimed at people who give up their time on a voluntary basis to ensure someone else gets the chance to take part in the sport they love.
The winner will join 14 others from around the country at the BBC Sports Review of the Year programme on Sunday, December 11, when the national winner will be named.
Ms Brookes has been involved with youth sailing in the county for 13 years, and is the secretary of the Worcestershire Schools Sailing and Canoeing Association.
She also serves on the committee of the National Schools Sailing Association.
The Midlands award winner will be announced at a gala ceremony at the National Motorcycle Museum, on Sunday.
