SIR - I have been a fan of Worcester City Football club ever since I moved to the city in the 1980s. I have watched through good and bad and even put my hand in my pocket to buy shares to help with the maintenace of the ground.

So, imagine my surprise when I noted the allocation of tickets for the forthcoming cup tie against Huddersfield Town - there was no mention of tickets for shareholders.

I decided this must be an oversight so contacted the club, only to be told that a decision was taken that there would be no preferential treatment for shareholders.

It appears I have to take my chance that there will be a ticket on sale for me once everyone else has had their allocation.

Where were these people when the club needed funds? When I expressed my surprise, I was told that as a shareholder, I should raise this issue at the next annual meeting. That will do me a lot of good with the game scheduled well before the next meeting.

It's nice to see that the club appreciates what myself and others have done to help the club in their lean years. What a way to treat loyal fans - where will the fair- weather element be once the run is over, I wonder.

NIGEL DAY,

Worcester.
