WORCESTER Cathedral is set to be the venue for a performance of Handel's most famous and popular work Messiah this weekend.
For many city folk the traditional annual event, which takes place this year at 7.30pm on Saturday, is the point at which they feel Christmas has really begun. The Worcester Festival Choral Society, led by conductor and music director Adrian Lucas, will be performing the much-loved composition.
Best known for its Hallelujah Chorus, Messiah also offers many other exciting choruses and arias.
Soloists for the concert will be Elizabeth McDonald, Stephen Shellard, James Man-ship and the orchestra will be the fantastic Westminster Chamber Orchestra.
Tickets are available from this year for the first time from Hunt-ingdon Hall Box Office on Worcester 611427.
They are also available from Janet Emmerson at 2 Oakall Cottages, Sinton Green, Worcs. WR2 6NT by telephoning 01905 640845 or by e-mailing: wfcs4tickets@ aol.com
