A DECISION on Sainsbury's land-swap superstore plan in Worcester has been put back until next year.
People living near the site of the 40,000 sq ft superstore were able to view the plans and have their say three months ago and it was due to come before Worcester City Council's planning committee on Wednesday, December 14.
Planning manager Paul O'Connor said it had now been put back until January at the earliest.
"We were hoping for December but it's been pushed back to next year due to issues on the traffic arrangements," he said. "It's an important scheme and we need to make sure the details are right and the plans go ahead with the proper consideration."
He said the discussion centred on vehicles delivering to the store, which would front on to Blackpole Road rather than its existing access off Windermere Drive, Warndon. Sains-bury's wants to relocate Archdale's club and football pitches on to the area left by the demolition of its existing store. Mr O'Connor said a few objections had been received but the issues had been addressed and there was broad support in the area for the plan. In the meantime, county councillor John Buckley will meet representatives from the supermarket giants on Thursday, December 8, to examine the application.
