RECORD numbers of people flocked to Stourport on Friday to bring in the season of goodwill when the town's Christmas lights were turned on.
Delighted organisers estimated that more than 5,000 people lined the streets to witness this year's Three Kings Parade and big switch-on.
Organiser, Pete Roberts, said: "I just could not believe the amount of people who came along. It was a fantastic sight. I honestly do not know where they all came from."
Visitors watched the popular procession wind its way from the Sports Centre, in Harold Davies Drive, through Bridge Street and High Street before reaching the Villeneuve-le-Roi Gardens.
The Three Kings, which were made and held by Lickhill Middle School pupils, headed the parade that also included the town's Scout and Guides group band and a miniature train, donated by its owner, Ben Burford.
Santa made the trip in his sleigh to add to the atmosphere and was assisted by his helpers who rattled buckets for the town mayor's charities.
At the end of the procession, people crammed into the gardens to take part in festive prayers and carols before the town's dazzling light display was illuminated.
Stourport High School musicians and members of Lickhill Middle School's choir accompanied the enthusiastic singing from the crowds.
Central TV reporter, Tom Parmenter, led the noisy 10-second countdown before flicking the switch on the lights, which cost £50,000.
Mr Roberts added: "It is an old saying but we just want to make each year bigger and better than the last. I think we succeeded and the message now is roll on next year.
"A special mention should go to Stourport Rotary Club. They handled the road closures and acted as marshals for the event. Without their help it would have been impossible to organise."
