CHADDESLEY Corbett reached the semi-final of the Worcestershire Junior Cup with a 4-1 quarter-final victory over Midland Combination toppers Barnt Green Spartaks Reserves.
Spartaks, who have won all nine of their Division Three matches, thumped West Midland Division One side Tenbury United 5-0 in the previous round.
Chaddesley have lost their last two league matches, their top goal scorer has left the club, and three players were unavailable for this quarter-final clash.
But they fought hard from the kick-off, with the outstanding Marvin Whitter playing the lone striker.
Whitter put Chaddesley ahead after good work on the right by James Dale, but a little later they were lucky when Barnt Green's penalty appeal was turned down.
Goalkeeper Stuart Brooks marshalled his defence well, with Shu Hiong Tan having an outstanding match.
Captain Neil Lucas scored the second goal early in the second half, and Mark McKinstry put Chaddesley safe though Barnt Green kept battling.
Man-of-the-match Whitter ran through to score a deserved second goal before Barnt Green managed a late consolation.
Manager Martin Westcott said: "Because of the unavailability of players we had to change the way we play. We went out to stop them from playing, by packing the midfield."
At 1.45pm on Saturday, Chaddesley host Bilbrook in West Midlands League Division Two.
