SANTA will be seen about town as he drops in to help out on the annual Round Table sleigh ride next month.

A familiar sight around the Vale for decades, around 20 hardy volunteers will be taking the sleigh around the area, knocking on doors with their collection buckets in a bid to beat the £5,000 raised for local charities last year.

And fundraising chairman Alan Ayers praised the people of the district for their generosity as he prepared to roll out the sleigh in Hampton on Saturday, December 3.

"People have been very supportive of the sleigh over the years," he said.

"We never set a target, the aim is just to raise as much as we can."

The round table dole out the money raised to worthy causes throughout the year, like the scout group who benefited from a new mini bus this year.

So dig deep when you hear sleigh bells ringing around the Vale any time up until Thursday, December 22, when a final volunteer run is held with details to be finalised.

The sleigh ride is once again sponsored by Listers VW of evesham, who have provided the transport for Santa's favourite mode of transport.

The sleigh will be making the following visits: Hampton, starting at the bottom of Cheltenham Road, on Saturday December 3; Badsey on Dec 4; Cheltenham Road, Warrens, Dec 5; Fairfield, Dec 7; Green Hill, Dec 9; Charity Crescent, Dec 10; Offenham, Dec 11; Bengeworth, Dec 12; Briar Close, Dec 14; Eastwick Park, Lower Cheltenham Road, Coopers Lane, Fairwater, Dec 15; Broadway, Dec 18; Falkland Road and Woodlands, Dec 19; Broadway Road, Hawthorn, Davis Road, Dec 20.
