AN Easter visit ended tragically for a woman from Bishampton when she fell down the stairs, a Hereford inquest heard.
Ellen Parker, aged 90, was visiting her daughter and son-in-law at their farm in Kimbolton, Herefordshire, when she fell.
Brenda Robinson told the hearing in a statement that she found her mother collapsed at the bottom of the stairs at Ratefield Farm one evening last March. She estimated that her mother had fallen down about 12 steps.
Mrs Parker was taken to Hereford County Hospital where she was admitted to an orthopaedic ward after being examined in accident and emergency. Nearly a month later she died of her injuries.
Dr Mark Hayes, a pathologist, told the inquest that the victim had suffered bleeding from the brain and this combined with heart disease had caused her death.
He said it was not unusual for an injury of this kind to take a considerable time to show itself.
Herefordshire coroner David Halpern recorded a verdict of accidental death.
