A CHARITY clay pigeon shoot at the Bransford Manor home of High Sheriff of Worcestershire Andrew Grant certainly went with a bang.
More than 100 people took part in the event and many more who were unable to attend gave donations, bringing the total raised for St Richard's Hospice to almost £40,000.
Mr Grant, who is also chairman of the St Richard's New Hospice Appeal, worked alongside a team of organisers including former High Sheriff Georgina Britten-Long.
St Richard's director of fund-raising Marilyn Peachey said: "The day was incredibly well-supported by the local community, and we are extremely grateful to Andrew and his team for organising the event, as well as all those who supported it and made donations.
"It is a huge amount of money to raise and will help fund the new St Richard's Hospice with specialist hospice beds."
St Richard's provides care for patients with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses and is based in Rose Hill, Worcester. Building work is well under way on the new £5.25m hospice near County Hall, Spetchley, due to open to patients next autumn.
