SIR - I was really pleased to see Simon Geraghty's decision to offer all drivers free parking during Christmas late night shopping, a cost to the council of about £2.50 a vehicle and therefore a subsidy by the people of Worcester.
I have no problem with this gesture in the spirit of Christmas. However, there are many people who do not have a car - elderly people on low incomes and so on. Perhaps free bus travel or taxis for those to share out the Christmas spirit? No Tiny Tims or Scrooges, please. So come on Councillor Geraghty, let everyone share in your munificence.
COUN RICHARD BIRD,
Worcester.
