FANS of a top Worcester band named after a veteran Worcester News letter-writer are awaiting the release of their fourth album.
The George Cowley Experience's latest surreal offering is a rock opera entitled Evesham Knievel, based very loosely on the life of daredevil American stunt rider Evel Knievel.
Musically, the musicians say it covers a range of British and American rock/country rock genres in a sound that is distinctly
their own.
Guitarist Pete Unwin, alias the Big C, said the story starts in 1952 with Evesham's 19-year-old mother meeting an itinerant fruit picker at the fairground. "Evesham himself is born as a result of this brief liaison and the Rock Opera follows his life through a difficult childhood," Pete explained.
"A break on the 'Wall Of Death' at Evesham Fair, a stunt-jumping career, love, fame and wealth in the USA before an attempt to jump the Grand Canyon leads to a return to the good old National Health Service - in the form of Evesham Community Hospital."
