ALVECHURCH manager Shaun Cunnington is calling for more consistency from his players after they stunned Midland Alliance high-fliers Malvern Town at the weekend.
The Lye Meadow side sent their Worcestershire neighbours crashing out of the Polymac Services League Cup, midfielder Neil Burden bagging the last-minute winner in a 3-2 victory.
And Cunnington now wants to see more of the same at home to visitors Causeway United on Saturday.
"We have to build on that result," the manager explained. "We have to get some consistency to our performances. If we do then there is nothing stopping us going on a good run."
Church had coasted into a 2-0 interval lead at Malvern thanks to goals from Neil Kitching and Keith Rostill.
And according to Cunnington the half-time lead could have been more.
He said: "Keith missed a penalty and another chance from two yards. On another day he could have scored three or four."
A Nathan Jukes penalty and a late strike from Dean Roberts looked like taking the tie into extra time until Burden's last gasp decider.
Paul Longthorne was back in the Alvechurch line-up following his spell with Stratford Town with Lee Millard set to make his return in last night's clash with Chasetown.
And the manager is hoping to have another familiar face returning to Lye Meadow - he is in talks with Ben Usher who linked up with Southern League side Stourport Swifts earlier in the season.
