STUDLEY suffered a 5-0 Polymac Services League Cup drubbing at Stourbridge at the weekend and manager Kevin Rowlands admits his players got just what they deserved.

"It was a bitterly disappointing performance and result," the Bees boss said. "The sad thing was the pure lack of quality anywhere in our side.

"We contributed greatly to the scoreline on Saturday and I thought we deserved to get a belting. The only good thing was that it wasn't a league game."

Jamie Rogers and Mark Bellingham handed the Black Country side a 2-0 interval lead with the pair adding further goals after the break while Andy Wright slotted home the other.

"We had two good chances in the first half from corners but failed to put them away," Rowlands added. "Up to half-time we were still in the game and their keeper then made a good save from Rob Ager's free-kick.

"But we then conceded a third and the heads went down."

Studley are set to head to Hednesford Town tonight in the Birmingham Senior Cup before returning to the league on Saturday when high-flying Romulus are the visitors.

They will be without striker Shane Benjaman this weekend as he is on holiday, but Rowlands does hope to have Simon Fitter back in the line-up after a bout of flu while striker Warren Givens should have recovered from a gash to the head that needed hospital treatment.
