Walsall 1 Headless Cross Ladies 1

HEADLESS Cross achieved a well-deserved draw against an organised Walsall team.

Cross suffered an early setback when their hosts took a 15th minute lead, capitalising on a poor Cross clearance.

However the visitors didn't sit back and played some great flowing football, splitting the Walsall defence on a couple of occasions.

The equaliser came when a promising ball from player of the match Sharon Porter found Jade Craddock unmarked on the right. Her pass gave Teresa Boddington a chance to run at the Walsall defence and cross for Kirstie Robins to steer home.

Cross started the second half in the same vein with good work from Boddington and Robins.

Walsall brought on fresh legs and Cross keeper Laura Randall was called into action before Elaine Frampton and Lisa Paronuzzi made goalline clearances.

n Headless Cross travel to AFC Telford next week again in search of gaining more valuable points.

Burlish Olympic 5 Redditch VC 2

Redditch put in a fine performance on Sunday but it was not enough to save them from being knocked out of the Worcestershire FA Cup.

VC stamped their authority on the game from the start with Jenna Dedicoat's pace causing Burlish a number of problems.

Good work in the middle of the pitch from Nat Lawrence and Emily Johnson allowed Dedicoat to break free and after the keeper saved her first shot, she was on hand to hit the rebound into the net.

VC then started to pass the ball around with Jenny Worthington working well on the right, linking up with Dedicoat who had another chance well saved by the keeper.

Johnson also made the keeper work with a fine effort from long distance.

VC, who were well on top at this point, were caught out when a Burlish striker broke free and beat stand-in keeper Tara Cook from close range.

This gave the home side some encouragement and shortly before half-time they took the lead.

VC came out in the second half and immediately got back on level terms. Dedicoat again got behind the Burlish back four and, as the keeper advanced, she slotted the ball into the corner of the net.

Burlish hit back and netted two more goals despite some excellent defending particularly from Kate Saint.

The final stages saw Tamsin Mayburry and Dedicoat go close before the home side added a fifth from long-range.
