Littleton 1, Archdales 2

SATURDAY'S game that was a credit to both sides and would have made an excellent WFA Junior Cup final.

On the balance of play the sides were equal but, on clearcut chances, Archdales had the edge and deserved their victory.

The first half was evenly contested with midfielder Philip Haines driving Litt-leton forward and Ben Gree-nwood and Joe Wright stre- tching the visitors' rearguard.

At the other end, Sam Gre-en's pace caused no end of problems for the home side and there were chances at both ends and only a super save from Sean Kealy kept out a goalbound header from Jason Beck.

The deadlock was broken three minutes into the second half when Gordy Beauchamp took advantage of a defensive mistake to score from an acute angle.

Littleton hit back five minutes later when, following Chris Bate's run, a shot from Haines was beaten out and Wright volleyed in the reb-ound.

It was now game on and Greenwood burst through and his shot flew across the face of goal. The visitors then struck the bar and the rebo-und was headed wide.

Kealy then kept Littleton in the game with a great double save and Dan Smith matched that effort at the other end to keep out a drive from Wright.

Then, in extra-time, came the killer goal after Kealy had made two more superb saves only for the ball to run kindly for Beck to fire in the winner.

The game was sponsored by the Ivy Inn.

Littleton are away to Fair-field in the President's Cup on Saturday (1.30pm).
