LIVING in Bromsgrove, I used to travel to Worcester frequently for shopping. I always used the Park and Ride, and told everyone how pleasant it was.

It cost £2 per car, so I could leave my car safely and - along with my partner - travel into the city without having to worry about driving through the traffic and parking in the centre.

Now that has changed. Passengers now have to pay to ride on the bus. So my costs have gone up to £3.50 and if four of you travel, that will cost you £6.50. It is cheaper to travel into the city by car and park.

This means it is back to square one, more cars in the city and more pollution.

Many people from Bromsgrove, Droitwich and surrounding areas use the Park and Ride, particularly at Christmas, and they will have a shock this year.

Cheltenham also has a Park and Ride, and it is £1.60 per car. If they can do it successfully why can't Worcester? I have tried to get an answer from the council or the tourist office, but of course no replies.

Is there a hidden agenda here with an eye to future congestion charges now that they are forcing us to drive into the city?
