WOODRUSH u16s maintained their good start to the season with a 19-10 victory against Shrewsbury in the North Midlands Cup.
And the result means the Wythall side have now gone nine games unbeaten this season.
Shrewsbury scored first with a well worked try in the 15th minute only for Woodrush to hit back ten minutes later with a hard-fought forwards try, driving Shrewsbury back over their line for Tom Hardwick to put the ball down.
Zac Small converted to give his side a lead that lasted up to half-time.
Shrewsbury scored a good breakaway try in the first minutes of the second half, but again failed to convert.
In the next ten minutes both teams struggled to assert any dominance but Woodrush battled hard and two tries scored by winger Luke Davis sealed the victory.
The final Woodrush try was a classic, with fly half Tom Newman kicking ahead for Davis to pick up and run over in the corner.
n Alcester's u16 made the trip to Rugby Lions but went down 25-10.
Alcester looked the sharper of the two teams but an injury meant the visitors played with only 14 players for much of the first half.
Despite Alcester's Jamie Randall scoring a first half breakthrough try the Lions were ahead at half-time 10-5.
Rugby scored further breakaway tries in the second half while Alcester won their scrums to keep up the pressure.
Declan Larcombe showed good work in the loose and scored Alcester's second try with an excellent run but this was how it finished.
Man of the match for Alcester was Larcombe who tackled aggressively as well as scoring his try.
n Alcester u14s played host to a talented Tamworth side and were on the receiving end of a 41-12 defeat.
The visitors got off to a strong start with their downhill advantage and soon opened the scoring.
Despite Alcester's brave tackling Tamworth continued to pressurise and scored three more tries before Alcester made in-roads into Tamworth territory.
Another try made it 31-0 at the break.
The second half saw a massive effort from Alcester with good running and passing. They piled on the pressure and, following a penalty, Vash Dasari took the ball from half-way and ran in to score.
This lifted Alcester but Tamworth fought back with two tries before Ollie Moore scored again for the home side.
Matt Prentice had a great game but Alcester's Man of the Match was awarded to Tomek Zalewski.
n Alcester u11s maintained their unbeaten run with a 26-7 victory over Stratford.
Alex Tack opened the scoring with a first half converted try but Stratford levelled before the break.
Ryan Skidmore powered through to put Alcester back ahead before further tries from Alex Tack and George Green completed the scoring.
Jack Darby was a deserved Man of the Match.
n Redditch u15s travelled to Old Saltonians and secured a 34-26 win despite having just 14 players.
There were two tries each for Daniel Jakeman and Jamie Gordon plus one try for Adam Palmer and Charlie Calvert. Keiran Brough and Jamie Gordon who was made man of the match.
