THERE are four generations of my family, all born and living in Redditch.
Every one of us - except for my mother, who is 88 years young - has been in or treated at the Alexandra Hospital. Some minor, some very serious.
There have even been occasions when two family members have been in at the same time. We have moaned about the Alex and we have praised the Alex but that is human nature.
I remember Smallwood Hospital and I remember the cuts there, when they closed at 5pm and you had to travel to Birmingham or wherever to get treatment.
I remember the then Prime Minister coming to Redditch and we asked him about a new hospital.
He said, "If you want a hospital, you must work for it." Well, we did.
Now the powers that be are trying to take it away.
Next April, my family is expecting two new members and we would like them to be born at the Alex, close to their homes and family .
My family is not alone as there are hundreds of other families in Redditch who think the same, leave our hospital alone. We did work for it.
