THE Palace Theatre will have a "good life" when it reopens next year following the announcement that Felicity Kendal, one of the country's most popular actresses, has agreed to becomes its patron.
Felicity has ties to the Edwardian theatre as both her parents appeared on stage there in the 1950s and at the age of three, Felicity trod the boards playing the Indian Boy in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Both Felicity's father, Geoffrey Kendal, and mother, Laura Liddell, were headliners at the theatre in the early 1950s.
Felicity has enjoyed an extensive career in theatre, film and television, perhaps most famously in BBC's The Good Life.
Redditch Council head of sports and leisure services Ken Watkins said: "We're delighted Felicity has agreed to be patron.
"She joins us at an exciting time. The restoration works are returning the auditorium to its original 1913 design and the redevelopment is creating some much-improved visitor facilities.''
