ON Monday, November 14, I took my nine-year-old granddaughter to her dancing class at Church Hill YMCA at 5pm, something I have done for the past five years.
But on this occasion, there were about 15-20 youths and girls shouting and generally misbehaving.
One was actually trying to climb up the pole of the CCTV camera.
At 6pm, my son-in-law came to collect us and there was still general mayhem going on, with one of the youths flaying the ground and swinging what appeared to be an inner tube or the like.
A police car came down the bus lane and ignored what was going on and I feel very strongly about the incidents as there is supposed to be a restriction order applicable in the area, or so the notices in the area say.
How are people like myself, aged 77, supposed to feel safe to walk in the area if these restrictions are ignored?
It is bad enough feeling intimidated in daylight hours but after dusk, it is difficult not to feel frightened, especially if the authorities can pass by and not split the gatherings up.
