A NEW club has been launched to combat the problem of anti-social behaviour in Church Hill.
Redditch YMCA, based in Loxley Close, is inviting fighting fit teenagers to join a new non-contact boxing club starting this Saturday.
YMCA spokesman Darren Vaness said the main reason for the club launch was to give young men on the estate something to focus their energy on.
"We have a lot of young men in Church Hill and there have been some problems regarding anti-social behaviour.
"This club will give them something positive to do instead."
Members of the club, run by boxing coach Lar O'Connor, will learn all the moves of a professional boxer, as well as taking part in circuit training.
"It is all about getting fit and gaining more self confidence," said Mr Vaness.
But he explained that members of the club would have to sign a strict agreement not to use any of the moves outside the club.
It is open to both girls and boys and will run from 10am-noon on Saturday and 6-8pm on Thursdays.
The first hour of the sessions will be for 13 to 16 year olds and then the doors will be open to all ages.
Anyone interested in joining the sessions can call Darren Vaness at the YMCA on 61643.
