A LUCKY Southcrest boy hitched a lift in a limo and had a ride home in style after spending two months in hospital.
Luke Wood, 11, was taken home from the Alexandra Hospital in a limo after his mum contacted radio station Heart FM to ask for their help.
Single parent Mandy Wood explained to afternoon presenter Darren Kelly that her son had been in hospital for eight weeks after a quad bike accident, missing his birthday, Halloween and bonfire night.
She told the presenter she would love to see the look on his face when he found a limo waiting for him, as he loved them.
Darren contacted a local limousine firm and Smethwick-based company Mann's Limousines picked Luke up from the Alex on Thursday morning, taking him past Walkwood Middle School, where he is a pupil, to his aunt's house, around the town centre and then back home.
His mum said she was delighted Heart FM had helped arrange the limo.
She said: "He's been feeling so down in the dumps and this surprise gave him a real boost."
