SHARP shooters at Sainsburys supermarket in Redditch held a charity football match in memory of a much-loved colleague and raised £1,500.
Almost 300 spectators turned out to show their support for the match held in memory of David McKinley, who died of a brain haemorrhage earlier this year.
The match at Redditch United Football Club off Bromsgrove Road was organised by Mr McKinley's friends Dean Maddams, Paul Tyler and Curtis Meaking.
Mr Maddams said following Mr McKinley's death, all his friends wanted to do something positive to remember him by.
In addition to the 11-a-side match, there was also a charity raffle with prizes donated by Sainsburys, Redditch United and Aston Villa Football Club.
All proceeds will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Relief.
Mr Maddams said: "I just want to thank everyone who donated raffle prizes to the event, to Redditch United and everyone who came along and supported us. It was fantastic."
Macmillan spokesman Kelly Edwards added: "Dean, Paul, Curtis and all of David's family were overwhelmed by people's enthusiasm and generosity. Thank you!"
