WHEN their daughter decides to join the Peace Corps and announces she will not be spending Christmas at home, Mr and Mrs Krank (Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis) decide they will abandon all things festive and treat themselves to a luxury cruise.
Unfortunately, Christmas is important in their community and their neighbours don't take kindly to the Kranks' failure to deck the halls with boughs of holly.
It turns into a neighbourhood war and the more the neighbours try to force the couple into embracing Yuletide gaiety, the more they hate the idea of acknowledging Xmas.
But on Christmas Eve, the day before they leave for the cruise, their daughter phones and says she will be returning for Christmas and can't wait to enjoy tradition, turkey and tinsel.
The Kranks embark on a frantic mission to bring Christmas into their stark home and need desperately to win back the support of the neighbours they have insulted so badly.
The most prominent feature of the film is the terrible overacting by Ms Curtis but there is a lovely festive feel to it and is definitely one the whole family can sit and watch together.
