DROITWICH resident Ashley Giles missed the final test between England and Pakistan because of injury.
The Warwickshire and England spinner pulled out of the squad for the third and final test in Lahore because of a recurring hip injury on Monday night.
He struggled injury in the second test and is set to return home this week to undergo surgery on his troublesome hip.
Giles will be replaced by Somerset all-rounder Ian Blackwell in the squad. England ended the first day of the test yesterday (Tuesday) in a perilous position after wasting a fine start. England were reduced to 248-6, but had started strongly, with Marcus Trescothick (50), Michael Vaughan (58) and Paul Collingwood (70) in good form.
