EVESHAM karter Matthew Venn reached his inaugural Junior Rotax Max final at the Shenington circuit last weekend.
Saturday's test day ensured the kart was set up to the driver's liking and that was proved correct as he had taken first place in his first race until he was sent crashing into the barriers and ending his participation.
After extensive repairs, the youngster entered race two at 19th on the grid but he made a fantastic start that saw him finish in a hard earned 11th position.
The 13-year-old Tewkes-bury High School pupil was again 19th at the start of the 14-lap final at the Banbury track and a good clean start saw him heading for a top ten finish at the midway point.
A few laps later he had made even further headway and was racing in eighth until he was passed but ninth was a more than creditable finish.
Matthew and his team are keen to race in either the Super One Series or Stars of Tomorrow but a sponsor is needed is that ambition is to be achieved.
