AN invitation to a party with the Queen and Duke Of Edinburgh could be on the way to Worcester people due to celebrate their 80th birthday on April 21 next year.

The Queen is hosting a special reception and lunch to mark becoming an octogenarian and is inviting people who share the same birthday to come along.

The celebration will take place at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, April 19.

The event is open to those born in the UK, even if they now live abroard, as well as those who are permanent British residents but were born in a different country. It also includes people from the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.

Anyone interested should write to the Lord Lieutenant for Worcestershire, Brintons Limited, PO Box 16, Exchange Street, Kidderminster DY10 1AG, including their title, full name and any letters after their name, address, postcode and telephone number.

A photocopy of their birth certificate must be included to verify eligibility.

Applications should arrive by Monday, January 16, after which invitations will be distributed on a pro rata basis between Lord Lieutenants' offices. Ballots will be held locally to achieve the fairest possible spread throughout the country.
