ST Nicholas, the original Santa Claus, will be commemorated with a concert in Worcester Cathedral's Chapter House.
The patron saint of Russia and Greece, St Nicholas was Bishop of Myra in the 4th Century. He is reputed to have restored life to three little boys pickled in brine and saved three girls from prostitution, three sailors from drowning and three men from an unjust death.
Worcester Cathedral Chamber Choir, conducted by Stephen Shellard, will perform Benjamin Britten's seasonal work Saint Nicholas on Saturday, December 10, at 7.30pm, together with a selection of carols.
Mulled wine and mince pies will be available to add to the festive atmosphere.
Tickets are £10 from the Cathedral shop or from Carole Oliver, telephone 01386 860389.
