BUDDING young musicians battled it out to be crowned Worcestershire Young Musician of the Year 2005. Six young soloists and two ensembles from schools across the county performed at Huntingdon Hall, in Worcester, each hoping to win the prestigious title. The winner of Thursday's event was 17-year-old Simon Bromley, of Bewdley High School, who wowed the judges with his performance on the trumpet. The judges also praised the polished performance on the saxophone by Worcester Sixth Form College student, 16-year-old Katie Hawcutt, pictured above. Project administrator, Debbie Poulton said: "It went very well and we were very impressed with the standard of playing".
