WORCESTER Warriors head coach Anthony Eddy refused to apologise for his side's style of play after their tense 22-21 win over Northampton Saints.

Worcester had Drew Hickey yellow-carded and Kai Horstmann sent off in a scrappy encounter at Franklin's Gardens.

But Eddy said Warriors would not change the tactics that have seen his side earn six Premiership wins this term.

"We're pleased to come here and come away with the points," he said. "I don't think we played to our potential but it is very satisfying to win away from home.

"We are a team that likes to play pretty hard at the football in defence and it's not something we are going to change. It's something that we are going to continue to do.

"It's something we will continuously try to improve on until we get the penalty turn-overs that I think we deserve in some cases.

"That's an area that we want to play the game at -- contest of the tackle -- and as long as we are on our feet we will continue to do so."

Warriors had to dig deep to make it over the finishing line and were grateful to Australian outside half Shane Drahm, who scored a try, which he converted himself, and also kicked five penalties against his former team.

"We had some chances late in the half to apply the pressure and get the penalties," said Eddy. "We were lucky enough that Shane was on target on those occasions.

"He's got good mental resolve. He missed a few kicks early on. There were tricky conditions with the wind and everything else but, certainly, when we needed him to put them over he did."

The win was particularly pleasing for Warriors given that they were humbled by the Saints at Sixways in the Powergen Cup earlier in the season.

"I'm sure that was in the back of the players' minds," added Eddy. "We knew this was a Premiership game which for us was much more important. It was very important for us to back up our home game from last week and come away and win."
