PHILLIPA Mills, safety chemist for Schloetter Company in Pershore, has received the prestigious National Vocational Qua-lification (NVQ) in occupational health and safety practice at a British Safety Council awards ceremony at the Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms in London.
Ms Mills was among four safety professionals who were presented with their NVQ awards after providing evidence of knowledge to an agreed standard, and showing they are able to demonstrate best practice in the workplace.
This process is continually assessed using a portfolio of evidence and observations by an independent assessor.
In gaining this qualification, Ms Mills has proved her contribution to helping reduce the £18bn a year cost of on-site accidents and illness in the United Kingdom.
Congratulating the successful delegates, David Ballard, Director General of the British Safety Council, said: "Good safety is good business and can save firms hundreds of thousands of pounds. In passing the NVQ, Phillipa Mills has shown a big commitment to improving workplace health and safety and reducing the toll of 300 work-related deaths each year."
