THE diggers and workmen are out in force at a Worcester church as work has finally begun on a long-awaited building project.
Plans were approved for a new 200-capacity hall at St George's Roman Catholic Church in Lowesmoor by city council planners last November.
Now the project is finally starting to come to fruition as work began on the scheme earlier this month, with the metal framework of the new circular building now very much evident on site.
The £1m project also involves the function room behind the presbytery, and the disused infants' school, classrooms, scout hut and parish hall being demolished.
They will be replaced by four meeting rooms, a kitchen and 59 parking spaces. A piazza, with shop fronts close to the church is also due to be refurbished.
