THE annual fete raised £1,900, shared between the village hall and church. The committee would like to thank all who helped.
The Committee responsible for the development of St James' Church would like to thank all who supported the recent Tredegar Orpheous Male Voice Choir's concert. A very pleasant evening was had by all, the event raised £452.
At the Cordery Club on December 1, there is a talk by M Mills on The Lighter Side of Policing. There is a Christmas tea on December 15 and January 19 sees an activity to be arranged. The club leader is Margaret Smith, contactable on 01684 833252. Meetings are held at Welland Village Hall, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
Tonight (Friday), Welland Village School PTA is putting on its annual Christmas ferret race night. Racing starts at 7.30pm, adults £4, children £1.50 from the school office on 310246 or Jill Jakeman on 833357.
Tomorrow night (Saturday), the Benefice Drama Group present Can I have a word? in St James' Church at 7.30pm. Admission is free but donations for refreshments (mulled wine and mince pies) would be gratefully appreciated.
Also tomorrow is the Friends of Little Malvern and Welland's prize bingo night. Doors at the village hall will be open at 7pm, eyes down 7.30pm prompt. There will be a raffle and the 20p admission includes tea/coffee/juice and biscuits. All proceeds to go towards the building and installation of a new lychgate to the new cemetery (Marlbank Road).
The Friends of Welland are once again going carol-singing on Wednesday, December 21 from the Pheasant at 6:30pm. All would be welcome.
Wednesday, November 30 sees St Wulstan's annual Christmas bazaar at the village hall, 11am-3pm. The annual Christmas draw will take place at 3pm. Tickets still available from Fr Christopher on 574658.
Christmas Kids Klobber event takes place at the hall on December 3, 11am-12.30pm. Admission is 20p, there are still raffle tickets left, contact Mary Purser on 310289.
