POWICK arrived on a frosty Sunday morning to be greeted with the surprise news that their Worcester League division one game was still on.

POWICK 6, REALITY RANGERS 3

This meant that several Powick players were late to the game and subsequently Powick were two goals down after only three minutes. Despite the poor start and arctic temperatures, Powick began to get their game going and quickly pulled a goal back through Steve Hadley.

This was the catalyst for a Powick revival and suddenly confidence spread right through the team.

The highlight of the half came from a fantastic 40-yard crossfield ball by the ever- improving Ben Pearson, which resulted in Dean Drinkwater hitting the side netting. However, only a few minutes later a fine strike by Drinkwater saw parity in the game and on the stroke of half-time, Bryan Craven made an 80-yard dash before finishing coolly past the advancing goalkeeper.

Within ten minutes of the restart, the hard work appeared to have been undone after sloppy defending from a corner meant the scores were tied at 3-3.

This spurred Powick on and once again the quality of the football saw them in the ascendancy.

Oli Knight grew in stature and confidently dealt with rare attacks against the Powick goal. Having earlier hit the crossbar, Stu Harvey netted his by now regulation brace and Drinkwater completed the scoring.

Credit should be given to all 14 players involved in the victory, though men-of-the-match, for their outstanding performances, were Oli Knight and Steve Hadley.
