"INTERNET gambling meets Big Brother" is film-maker and actor Ras Barker's summary of his latest short film, called Somewhere.

Ras, who grew up in Malvern and went to Dyson Perrins and North Malvern Primary, appears in the film alongside former Stranglers frontman Hugh Cornwell.

"I grew up listening to the Stranglers and it was a chance to work with my hero," he said.

Somewhere's British premiere was at the Brighton International Film Festival on Wednesday.

The dark story follows two men playing Russian Roulette broadcast live over the internet.

It is the second short film Ras has written. His first was Life is a Circus, a romantic story about moving to London, which was partly filmed in Malvern.

Shown at more than 40 film festivals worldwide, it was nominated for the Time Out Best Short Film award.

After two short films, Ras has his sights set on writing a feature film, which he would like to shoot in Malvern.

"As a filming location it is fabulous," he said.

"If I get investment I would definitely want to shoot in Malvern. Filming in London is such an ordeal getting through all the bits of red tape."

As an actor, Ras plays a cameo role in Stoned, the new film exploring the death of Rolling Stones guitarist Brian Jones.

He has one line less than David Walliams, of comedy series Little Britain, playing Jones's flatmate, James the Lodger.
