I AM writing in reply to comments made by Herefordshire councillor Barry Ashton (Ledbury Reporter, November 4) about Leadon Bank.
I would like to ask Coun Ashton why he became interested in representing Ledbury and its townsfolk if he doesn't listen to a single word they are trying to say?
Why did we hold a referendum in the first place? Is it because the townsfolk do not want such a huge building being built in Ledbury?
It is the townsfolk who work, care and pay for Ledbury and its amenities. It is Ledbury townsfolk who voted Barry Ashton into power to work for the people of Ledbury, putting their interests first, listening to their concerns and putting these concerns forward to Herefordshire Council. He is as much use as a chocolate teapot with his arrogant attitude towards the town he is supposed to represent.
I wonder how he will represent himself when he wants our votes?
This building is not right for the elderly people of Ledbury. It will be too big, expensive and totally unsuitable for the requirements needed. According to Herefordshire Council and Shaw Trust, the higher up and away from other residents of Ledbury the elderly are, the better.
