A FINAL decision on the closure of Malvern Hills Primary School is likely to be made at a meeting on Monday (November 28).
Families, staff and governors are crossing their fingers hoping the School Organisation Committee (SOC) will question Worcestershire County Council's decision.
The committee had to debate the decision because objections were raised after a public notice on the school's closure was issued.
It can only object to the way in which the decision to close the school was made, not the decision itself.
Don Brearley, vice-chairman of governors at Malvern Hills Primary School, said they had submitted comments to the SOC protesting the closure.
"Our argument is that we need a review of primary school education in Malvern as a whole," he said.
"Worcestershire County Council is not looking at Malvern, it's looking at the Poolbrook area, which is wrong."
Mr Brearley said the governors were unhappy the education authority was allowed to provide commentary on their response to the SOC. If the committee does not agree unanimously that correct procedures were followed, a Government schools' inspector will be called in to make the decision.
However, the closure will go ahead in August if the SOC agrees unanimously, meaning around 50 pupils will have to find another school from September.
