A rock legend dropped in at Malvern Parish CE Primary School to point pupils in the right musical direction.
Children more used to listening to bands like McFly soon caught on to Alvin Stardust's 70s vibe.
A choir of 30 pupils from the school will join him on stage on Wednesday, December 7, when he performs at Malvern Theatres on his Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree tour.
Alvin met children who will accompany him in a selection of festive hits during the show, to run through their parts.
Schools across the country are involved in the tour and Alvin has been busy meeting as many of the children involved as possible, recently visiting three different schools on his day off.
"I like to try and visit schools personally, as it's nice to be able to say hello to the children and the teachers," he said."I think it's worth the effort, as it certainly gives them more confidence when they go on stage."
The show is running for the third consecutive year, and Alvin always looks forward to working with children.
"I've got five children myself so I'm used to them, and Christmas is all about kids," he said.
"It's also a real education in the theatre for them and a chance to work with some world-class performers."
Headteacher Lynn Gill was delighted that the school had been chosen.
"It's a great opportunity for the children," she said. "It's nice that they get to meet Alvin in a more relaxed atmosphere rather than at the theatre."
