JOHN Trewick admits there is a feel-good factor at Edgar Street -- as Hereford United aim to take their unbeaten run into double figures against Exeter City tomorrow.

The Bulls continue to march on in all competitions, following Tuesday night's 2-1 extra-time victory over League One side Port Vale in the LDV Vans Trophy second round.

"There's a good feeling around the club at the moment," said United coach Trewick. "Of course, when you are winning games and on unbeaten runs, it adds to the confidence in the squad.

"Everyone senses that we are on a high and we want that to continue. But it's a long season and we are only a third of the way through it.

"One or two points have already slipped through our grasp and we should have done better in a few previous games. We realise that we must continue to improve our league form."

Victory over Vale, courtesy of goals from England National Game XI pair Danny Carey-Bertram and Tamika Mkandawire, was United's ninth unbeaten match in all competitions.

Aside from the result, special cheers on the night were reserved for the introduction of substitutes Adam Stansfield and Simon Travis.

It was full-back Travis' first taste of senior action since damaging his ribs and lung in a summer international match, while striker Stansfield had been sidelined for over two months following a double hernia operation.

Despite their return, Trewick said both need more time on the pitch to regain full match sharpness.

Trewick added: "Ideally, it would be nice for them to get more minutes under their belts. They probably need another game or two to pick up their match fitness, but they both acquitted themselves well when they came on.

"It was nice for the pair of them, particularly Simon Travis because he's been out for a long time.

"Most people are back from injury and available for selection. Obviously, the players are bound to be a little bit tired after Tuesday night, but we have tailored training for the rest of the week to what they put in."

Manager Graham Turner faces a minor selection dilemma as United anticipate their biggest attendance of the season against third-placed Grecians.

Carey-Bertram, Guy Ipoua and Andy Williams are leading the fight for the two striker spots, with Stansfield and Graham Evans waiting in the wings, while on-loan Mat Bailey is returning to Crewe Alexandra.

Craig Mawson keeps his jersey after Wayne Brown suffered a hairline fracture of a wrist in training.

Turner is seeking a goalkeeping back-up before tomorrow's showdown.

Exeter will be without suspended striker Lee Phillips.

Trewick added: "Exeter have a certain style of play, direct and organised. We know what to expect. We play to win and we are determined to continue the good run that we are on."
