MALVERN Rugby Club have signed Midlands One side Bromsgrove RFC's centre and player/coach Dave Wilkinson.
Wilkinson, a Malvern resident, has played for Moseley and represented the North Midlands. He joins Malvern at a crucial time in the club's rebuilding process.
David Robins, Malvern director of rugby, said: "We are delighted to welcome Dave to Spring Lane - he has been long admired at Malvern. He will help us tighten up our defence and his strength and running skills will give us an added dimension in attack. Dave will also assist our coaching team, specialising in back play."
Robins has taken heart at his side's improved performance on Saturday, when they were just behind at 5-6 before the match with Barker's Butts was abandoned due to the fog in the 52nd minute.
He said: "We showed extra bite out there with an awesome forward performance. Our set pieces were superb, our ball carrying excellent. We still gave away too much ball by kicking instead of keeping it in hand and playing to our rucking and mauling strengths.
"Our indiscipline again showed up in the penalty count against, although some were questionable to my mind. 'Ping' Han had a mammoth game, his strength and endeavour like a beacon in the mist, whilst Adam Dixon again showed great promise at stand-off.
"We now replay the game tomorrow (Saturday) as both teams are out of the cup, we have a 'spare' date and will welcome Barker's Butts and their supporters back to Spring Lane for what promises to be another exciting encounter."
Kick-off will be at 2.30pm.
