MICHELLE Nixon from Little Malvern took part in her first ever motor race at the weekend at Pembrey race circuit in south Wales and took the chequered flag.
The 22-year-old had a test day on Friday at Pembrey in her hired Caterham sports car, whilst under instruction from former top touring car champion Tim Harvey.
On Saturday, Michelle qualified on pole position after the fastest lap time.
In only her third time in a Caterham and second time on a race track, Michelle put in a gallant and defensive drive to secure her first win in her first race, achieving Motorsport News' 'Star Drive' award.
Michelle was ecstatic to win and admits she was "in a complete daze" after the race and simply could not believe what she had achieved.
She now heads straight into the Formula Woman Championship next year. Her win this weekend has taken her from over 4,000 entrants to be in the final 16, an amazing achievement for someone with such little experience.
The race action can be seen on Channel 4 in the spring.
A jubilant Michelle would like to thank her parents and all her supporters who were there at the weekend.
