An entertainment with much interest, variety and attractiveness was provided at the Institute, West Malvern, on the 9th inst, when a dual opportunity presented itself of putting into practical form the philanthropic spirit and also of participating in the enjoyment of a simple but pleasant musical evening. It must indeed be gratifying to Mrs Charnley to witness the large gathering who assembled to give attentive hearing to the programme of good things which she, in her kindness of heart, had striven to provide. On Thursday evening, the second annual dinner in connection with the Leadon Lodge of Buffaloes was held at the Plough Hotel in Ledbury, and Mrs Howard, the esteemed hostess, placed a splendid repast upon well-arranged tables. The company, numbering 50 to 60, thoroughly enjoyed the good things provided. Ledbury Free Press, November 28, 1905.

One of the country's leading traditional jazz bands, Chris Barber and his band, who have visited twice before and established a strong following, drew over 600 people to the Winter Gardens on Sunday. Their varied numbers, including "blues" and "stomp", drew tremendous applause. Two other successes of the evening were Olivia Patterson, "blues" singer, and the Skiffle Group, including Lonnie Donnegan, playing old folk songs. Malvern Gazette, November 25, 1955.
Visiting the 1st Ledbury Scouts at their new HQ, a Ledbury Reporter representative was impressed by the big efforts in making an almost derelict building a comfortable and cheerful meeting place. The building is next to The Homend Lodge, and was originally the stables of the Lodge. Ledbury Reporter, December 2. 1955.

The Malvern Oxfam shop reopens for business today in Church Street - in premises transformed by a thoroughgoing programme of renovation and improvements, not only to the whole building but also to Cecilia Hall behind it. During renovations, the shop was housed in the former Gent-leman's Club premises at the corner of Church Street and Grange Road. Malvern Gazette, November 27, 1980.
Ledbury Carnival Association has more than doubled the amount it has given to charity in any one year, in this year's donations to local clubs and societies. Record proceeds of the August Bank Holiday event amounted to £3,000, to be shared out between five organisations. Ledbury Reporter, November 27, 1980.
