SIX schools are being given a fantastic boost to develop their cricket team by Colwall CC.
Chosen as one of only 60 clubs in the country, Colwall have secured funding to provide high-quality cricket coaching to six schools for at least three hours per week for the whole of the summer term.
It is part of a major initiative fronted by Bank of England governor, and Worcestershire supporter, Mervyn King.
"Now is the right time to revitalise cricket in state schools," said Mr King, "Our vision is to see cricket played again in our schools, played well and played regularly."
This 10-year £50m programme is jointly funded by the Government and the private sector and is supported by Lord MacLaurin, Sir Tim Rice and Mark Nicholas.
Colwall chairman Gary King said: "We are delighted to have been selected, it is a recognition of the quality of our coaching."
