WHAT started as a cold, foggy, dank morning finished with the Malvern U12 Vipers playing some fantastic rugby against mixed U12/U13 teams from Evesham.
Evesham U12/13 7pts, Malvern U12 Vipers 35pts
Evesham U12 A 0pts, Malvern U12 Vipers 22pts
In the first match against a combined Evesham U12/13 side, the Malvern forwards were dominant and supportive in both defence and attack to give their backs quality ball, of which they took full advantage to run in some quality scores.
Eric Carlen played a near perfect game at centre. His tackling was strong and he ran onto everything at pace, committing defenders and then passing-off to set his team mates up for try scoring chances. It was also a perfect day for Alex Swan with a 100 per cent conversion rate.
In the second game against an Evesham U12 A team, the experienced Malvern forwards who had not played earlier joined forces with some of the Vipers less experienced or newest recruits to the ever growing Vipers squad.
Again the Malvern backs were superb and with great support from the pack, the new boys ran in four unanswered tries. Mark Ziegler had a good game and scored two fantastic tries.
On Sunday, the 28-strong Malvern Vipers squad travel to Finstall Road to take on the all-conquering Bromsgrove U12s.
