COMMUNICATING with people who speak other languages has become much easier thanks to new computer assisted translation (CAT) technology launched by a Malvern company.

The innovative software from Translution of Malvern Hills Science Park in Geraldine Road means that anyone wanting to write an e-mail in English to work colleagues abroad simply presses a button and the e-mail will automatically arrive in the recipient's inbox, translated into their language.

The new technology allows accurate, automatic translation of e-mails, documents and web pages instantly, without the need to cut and paste or to change ways of working. Translution is a leading translation technology company, and it has developed patented computer assisted translation software far in advance of any other product currently on the market.

The company aims to make organisations and individuals more successful by removing language barriers and by enabling more accurate and easier communication with speakers of other languages.

Incoming e-mails can also be translated into the user's own language or nominated language. The process is completely automatic and needs no special skill on the part of the user.

Ted Marshall, managing director of Translution Limited, said: "Many people have tried computer assisted translation services before and have been disappointed.

"With our offering, Trans-lution has moved language translation software a giant leap forward in terms of ease of use and comprehension.

"We have developed unique technology that removes one of the main barriers to trade with countries whose first language is different from your own. This has not been done before successfully or commercially, by any company worldwide."

The software had been designed to translate initially to and from English, German, French, Italian and Spanish, with further languages to follow in future.

All a user needs to do is write an e-mail in their own language, press the "send" button, and the recipients will receive the e-mail in their own language.
