OLD friends will be meeting up at a reunion for former transport workers in Stourport on Saturday, December 3.

Bob Phillips is organising the event for former employees of Franche Road Commercials, which was based in Sandy Lane, Stourport in the 1960s.

It will be held at the Royal British Legion in Severn Road between 11am and 3pm and between 7.30pm and 11.30pm.

This year he also is also inviting anyone who has worked in the transport industry in Wyre Forest.

Mr Phillips, of The Slad, Wilden, joined the company in 1959 before it moved to Stourport, after he left school and began to drive lorries when he was 21.

It is the third reunion Mr Phillips has organised. He said: "I lost my wife to cancer two years ago and I wanted something to do and I thought it would be nice to see some of the old lads. I thought it would be a good idea and it has grown and grown."

Mr Phillips added he was looking forward to the event and hoped to see a lot of familiar faces.

Visitors will be able to look at the model truck display inside the KGB Group coach, which was renovated by Mr Philips and two of his friends.

The Leyland Leopard was used to transport old grand prix racing cars across Europe.

It was converted into a model truck display so Mr Phillips, who has been collecting model trucks for more than 30 years, and his friends could travel to transport and steam rallies across the country.

As well as catching up with old friends, there will be the chance to compete for the title of driver of the night by taking turns with the remote control lorry and look at old photographs and books.
